Staying with us

Indigena Café is a perfect spot to enjoy Costa Rica! Right outside the property, you can explore the Nature Reserve, beach, jungle, and many rivers. The small fishing village of Cabuya is located 5 minutes away with several restaurants and grocery stores. Nearby is also the Cabuya Island Cemetery, a favorite spot for snorkeling. The tourist and bohemian beach town of Montezuma is about a 15-minute drive away. Here you will find many shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, live music, a farmer’s market, and access to adventure tours. On the other side of the peninsula, you can visit the surfing beach towns of Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. The Café is accessible by car, the local bus, taxi, foot, and bike! Surrounded by nature the property is peaceful and filled with gardens, trees, permaculture features, animals (howler monkeys are a frequent visitor), and several species of birds and frogs. Staying here is a truly unique and special experience.

Froth crema half and half, breve, café au lait fair trade and body chicory french press frappuccino extra. Aftertaste, kopi-luwak galão whipped robust aftertaste to go plunger pot.

Only natural products

Indigena Chocolate will be available for purchase at the Café, local and distant businesses, and is already being incorporated into the dishes and drinks served at the Café.

Indigena Café is an eco-conscious, green-built café near the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve in Cabuya, Costa Rica. The Café was created with the vital idea of sustaining and supporting the traditions, arts, and languages of the Indigenous communities of Costa Rica, as well as the country’s vibrant ecological systems. The next phase in the growth of Indigena Café is Indigena Chocolate. An additional natural building will serve as a space for the making of Fair Trade Artisanal Chocolate. The cacao beans for the chocolate will be purchased from a good friend, Antonia Palacio, and his fellow Ngabe community members, a Costa Rican Indigenous Community located near the border of Panama.   By creating a thriving Fair Trade chocolate business that will be sustainable, ethical, and profitable, the goal is to provide a stable source of income for Antonio, his family, and the other members of the Ngabe community. The new project will also help support the local community of Cabuya.
